The seasoned citizen use to believe I was not really traveling if I wasn't outside the borders of the United States. With all the unrest in various parts of the world and that small detail called money, I've changed my mindset.
The last couple of years I been exploring many of the beautiful and interesting places right here in my own backyard; Mount Rainier, the highest mountain in the Cascade Range here in the Northwest, La Conner, north of Seattle and host to the annual tulip festival every April, and just last week Ocean Shores, a small, quiet beach town on the Washington coast and about 3-hours drive south of Seattle. I stayed in a quaint hotel steps away from the ocean.
My point, if you too have travel fever, and may think you can't afford it, think again. Check your geographical location to see if there are places of interest. You may be surprised. In my area Park & Rec offers day trips and a local travel agency in West Seattle was also a good resource for 3-day, 2-night packages and short cruises. Your area will determine prices but it's worth investigation.
Onward & Upward,
Jacqueline
