Mount St. Helens was the first of my summer staycation adventures. It's about a 2-1/2 hours drive from Seattle. I recommend going to the Johnson Ridge Observatory. It provides great views of the mountain and for $8.00/person, the visitor center has tons of historical information about the 1980 eruption.
It's definitely a full day trip but well worth it.
I thoroughly enjoyed it.
If you live in Seattle and haven't been, I encourage you to go. If you come here on a visit add to your do do list.
Update at 11:00 a.m.
