Your Sanctuary

I talked about this subject before but I think it needs to be revisited. Your home should be more than just a place to lay your head. It should provide you a place where you can really relax, leaving stress at the door.

It doesn't matter if your place is big, small or somewhere in between, it should be your personal sanctuary. The following are three simple things you can do to help bring peace and tranquility into your living environment:

1. Clean out the clutter. The last thing you want to do when you get home from a hectic day is clean up. Keeping things in order will actually help reduce your stress. It's harder to relax when things are in disarray. I make it a habit of putting things back where they belong right after I use them. It saves extra steps and energy.

2. Bring green plants into your space. According to the Foliage for Clean Air council, some
plants like the Boston fern can actually filter indoor pollutants. They recommend having two plants for every 100 square feet.

3. Create an atmosphere of love. Display handmade or meaningful gifts from loved ones andphotos of family and friends. I have a display of my mother's (now deceased) cocktail purses inmy bedroom. They add color and a little glamour to my room.

Whatever you can do to create a peaceful, harmonious environment for yourself and your family, do it. Be creative. You deserve to take the very best care of yourself from the inside to the skin-side.

Self-care = Self love.

Together we thrive,

Jacqueline
