I think everybody is watching their budgets these days. Investing in your health can help save you money in the future (lower medical bills). Lowering the cost of your food bill doesn't have to mean lowering the quality. Here are a few things that can help you make choices that can lead to a reduced food budget.
1. Make 3 Shopping Lists
- Foods you need immediately.
- Foods you will need soon.
- Foods you will not need for a while (you can wait to purchase these items)
- Clip coupons and save them until you need the the item.
- Search online for coupons. Do a search for the name of the food item you want to buy & the word coupon. You can then print the coupons.
- Check to see if your store has a loyalty program. This too provides extra savings.
- Going shopping when you're hungry will most likely lead to you buying all kinds of things that are not on your list.
- Buying in bulk, when possible, can save you money especially if you have a family.
- Going to one of the wholesale stores for your non-perishables is another good idea.
- When possible, don't waste money on brand name foods when the generic versions taste the same.
