Longevity

Nobody can really guarantee how long we will live but there are some things we can do to contribute to a longer, healthier life. The infamous Dr. Oz has a few suggestions:

1. Reduce ALL sugary drinks. This is not just soda. There are numerous teas and juice drinks that are just as bad as soda. If you currently drink 40 ounces a day of sugary drinks and stop altogether, you can start releasing weight. This will reduce your mid-section, which directly contributes to diabetes and heart disease.

2. Stop smoking anything---pipes, cigars, cigarettes or marijuana. The all produce smoke that is carcinogenic. If you stop smoking now you could add up to 10 years to your life.

3. Reduce stress. One would think this is a no brainer at this point. but we can all use a reminder. Whether its stress from work, your children, a bad relationship, you must alleviate this stress at all costs. Prayer/meditation works for me but you can also try some form of exercise like yoga too.

I believe its not how long you live but the quality of life you live. I'm not implying that I am ready to leave the planet any time soon, however. I believe that taking the best care of myself is the least I can do for this life God has given me. It's a way to show my gratitude. Remember, only you can make yourself a priority.

Together we thrive,

Jacqueline
