I recently read that people who maintain close friendships and find other ways to interact socially live longer than those who become isolated. The article also stated relationships and social interactions even help protect against illness by boosting the immune system.
As we "mature" sometimes our social life diminishes. One way I maintain my social interaction is by participating in group called "Drunk on Beads." Initially, it started as a beginners jewelry making class but has evolved into a meaningful exchange with like-minded women (and one man). The class thoroughly enriches my life and brings joy to my spirit. I not only get to express myself creatively but I also get to hang out with a fabulous group of people every Wednesday. I love it .
I encourage you all to make a concerted effort to stay connected and involve yourself in at least one thing you absolutely love. I guarantee the benefits are worth the effort.
Together we thrive,
Jacqueline

I have a standing meeting with a friend once a week. It doesn't matter how hellish Monday through Wednesday might be. I know on Thursday, laughing with my dear friend over a hand-painted cup of chai is a cure sans the doctor visit or bill!
