| Me on the Right |
Training for the "Walk of Champions" continues. A group of about 75 dedicated Sound Steppers (it was cloudy & cold) met at Green Lake last Saturday to do either a 5-K or 10-K walk around the lake. I opted to do the 10-K!
My goal was to keep up with Robert, our walking "point man." Unfortunately, I was unsuccessful. Robert left me in the dust. I'm always amazed at how his strides look effortless and he doesn't even break a sweat. I was still proud of myself, however. I was fourth behind him crossing the finish line after two times around the lake; 6.2 miles. Not bad for a seasoned citizen!
I plan to walk at least three days this week, a minimum of three miles each day because the group walks 6.5 miles again this Saturday. It's great exercise and fun too. I believe joining Sound Steps has kept me motivated. Check to see if there's a Sound Steps organization in your area or start your own walking group. It's easier if you do it with at least one other person so the two of you can keep each other encouraged.
Living a self-care life,
Jacqueline
