Our food choices contribute greatly to our overall health and well-being. Unfortunately, healthy choices are not always readily available to everyone. Filmmaker, Bryon Hurt, talks about that in his documentary, Soul Food Junkies.
Those of us who do have access to healthy choices don't always choose wisely. Factors can be money, time or a combination of both. Whatever the reason, poor eating habits eventually takes its toll on our health.
I'd already set the intention to increase my intake of vegetables this year even before I saw the PBS special with Dr. Perlmutter or started reading the book Heal Thyself by Queen Afua. Heal Thyself advocates becoming a strict vegetarian; I'm not quite there yet! This is not a case against meat but more encouragement to be informed about what you're eating.
When possible, buy organic, local fruits and vegetables. I know organic is more expensive but you'll either pay now for healthier food or pay later for ill-health.
An excerpt from: Heal thyself for Health and Longevity
Let us liberate ourselves from disease and spiritual unrest. Peace can exist on earth, but it must begin with you. From you comes family healing, then community healing, national healing, and finally, global healing.

To Infinite Possibilities,
Jacqueline
