Father's Day ~ June 16th

Jesse Nash ~ 1920 ~ 2008
I wanted to make sure I gave father's their due on their special day. Like Mother's Day, Father's Day celebrates the male side of parenting. Father's Day was started in Spokane, WA,  by a woman named Sonora Dodd in 1910. Her motivation was her father, a civil war veteran and single parent who raised six children.

It took decades before Father's Day became nationally recognized. In 1966, President Lyndon B. Johnson issued the first presidential proclamation honoring fathers, designating the third Sunday in June as Father's Day. Approximately six years later, the day was made a permanent national holiday by

President Richard Nixon. In addition to Father's Day,   International Men's Day is celebrated in many countries on November 19th.

Me & My Daddy
I was sincerely blessed to have Jesse Nash as my father. He was truly "a man's man," the kind of father you could always count on no matter what! It was from him I learned to be self-reliant, loyal and kind.  His guidance was a major factor in making me the woman I am today. I will forever be thankful and grateful for his unwavering love and devotion. I still miss our weekly chat's and especially miss the cards he'd send every holiday without fail. He was an outstanding man and an even more outstanding father.

June 16th is when we officially celebrate Father's Day. I'd like to propose celebrating the one's we love everyday so they know they're loved and appreciated while they are still here on earth.

Happy Father's Day to all the great men out there whether you are a biological dad, an uncle standing in for an absent father, or a mentor/friend. Your presence is needed and appreciated and for it you deserve to be honored and celebrated.

Together we thrive,

Jacqueline
