I watched a very powerful movie Sunday night, Girl Rising. It highlighted the struggles yet unwavering determination of young girls around the world (66 million) to to fulfill their dreams of going to school.
The movie was released in March 2013. I only heard about recently through a neighbor. It aired on CNN Sunday night at 6:00 PM PST and 9:00 PM PST and will be shown again on June 22nd. If you missed it, check your local listings for the date and time it may be shown in your area.

One out of five children live in poverty in the United States. According to the Urban Institute, approximately 2.7 million children lived with an unemployed parent during a typical month this year. 2.8 million children lived with a parent that had been out of work for six months or longer. The study found that kids in California, Nevada, Rhode Island and the District of Columbia are likely to be in such households.
The long-term implications are clear. A recent study showed that 6.5 million young adults between the ages of 16 and 24 have remained disconnected from both school and work, further perpetuating a cycle of poverty.
The future of our nation and our world is dependent on educating our children.
Self care = Self love.
Together we thrive,
Jacqueline
