A limited budget does not mean you can’t have a fun-filled vacation. Don’t get me wrong! I would love to be laying on a beautiful sandy beach in Jamaica or strolling along a canal in Venice BUT in the meantime, there are lots of wonderful things to do right here at home.
This summer, part of my vacation plans includes a “staycation”. I am going to be a tourist right here at home in Seattle. I have already starting my research on things I might want to do.This week I’ll be sharing some of my plans and offering suggestions I hope will encourage you to think about planning your own staycation if major travel is not in your budget.
Tuesday, Staycation Defined, Wednesday, Life's a Beach, Thursday, Summer Fest, and finally Friday, Take a Hike..
I stared my staycation early with a ride on The Duck, a WWII amphibious landing boat that tours some of the on-land hot spots in Seattle before driving off into Lake Union where I got a fantastic view of the city from the water. It was a good time and something tourist from all over the world do when they visit The Emerald City. Sometimes we live somewhere all our lives and never see some of our city's feature attractions.
What is a Staycation? According to Wikipedia, a staycation is an opportunity for you to be a tourist where you live, taking advantage of activities in-town or within reasonable driving distance.
Start making a list of things you might be interested in doing in your area. Also do a little research on the FREE or inexpensive things you can do too. Thinking outside the box will help you be more creative.
Pike Place Market is a huge tourist attraction here in Seattle but I still love going there. My favorite French bakery, Le Panier, allows me to visit Paris anytime I want! If you have a favorite place, put it on your list.
Staycations became popular in the US during the financial crisis of 2007-2010. Based on what’s going on economically for many of us today, staycations can still be the answer for having a great summer.
Self-care = Self-love.
Together we thrive,
Jacqueline
