8 Ways to Create D.I.V.A Downtime - #7

Surround yourself with beauty; your mindset - books, music, nature, your living space - de-clutter, treat yourself to fresh flowers, light candles, your relationships - nurture your relationships, minimize time with negative people, release habits that no longer serve you, are just a few examples.

My friends can tell you that I believe your home is your personal sanctuary:
  • It should be the place where you come to replenish yourself. It doesn't have to be fancy but it should reflect you and your personality.
  • It's hard to relax when things are in disarray. Keep things neat and organized. It minimizes stress and promotes the ability to relax. That goes for your mind too!
  • Something as simple & inexpensive as fresh flowers is an easy way to brighten your day. Don't wait for someone else to buy them, treat yourself. Remember, only you can make yourself a priority.
  • Quality time with good friends is like a tonic for me. Nurture your relationships. They are a valuable asset.
  • Don't let others steal your joy. Set your intention for how you want your day to go and do your best not to let the world take you out of your zone. I'm not going to pretend this is easy but the more you set the intention to do it the easier it becomes.
  • Every morning I say, "God, please go before me, prepare the way, and make all the crooked places straight." As mentioned, prayer and meditation really works for me. Whatever your spiritual practice may be, incorporate it daily. Consistency is the ticket to success.
