If you don't already have one, consider a daily spiritual practice. In my opinion, prayer AND meditation are important elements in a self-care life-style. Your daily practice can also be a valuable tool in reducing stress. I put aside time every morning and evening to read from various spiritually-based books, including the Bible. I'm a person who believes adamantly in prayer so that is also incorporated into my daily practice. I read somewhere that prayer is us talking to God and meditation is us listening to God. Meditation is also a way to quiet the mind, helping to reduce the endless chatter. Learning to quiet your mind is essential to living a self-care life-style and also contributes to your overall well-being. I meditate a minimum of 30-minutes daily. You don't have to sit on the floor in the lotus position although I would recommend sitting upright to minimize falling asleep, especially in the beginning of your practice.
